Happy Anniversary!

5 years ago I married the man of my dreams. Wait...let me say it again - I MARRIED THE MAN OF MY DREAMS!!!

I can hardly believe that it's been 5 years since that cold, rainy, August day, when we stood, shivering in front of our family and friends, and pledged our love and commitment to each other and our beautiful children. I still can't believe he picked me!

Our 5 years of marriage, 8 1/2 years as a couple, have been the best years of my life! No - by no means have things been perfect or easy. I believe we've encountered our fair share of issues...but I know, without a doubt that there is no other person on this planet that I would want to have by my side. Through the thick and the thin, good times and bad...my Chris.

We always play this game - or at least I always start it...where I ask Chris why he loves me. He always has such great answers! I'm pretty sure I could fill hundreds of pages with all the things I love about Chris...but for starters:

His Smile. Chris has a smile that can light up a room and melt any girl's heart! I very first time I saw him flash those pearly whites - I was hooked!

His Selflessness. Chris truly never wants for or asks for anything - it's very frustrating at birthday and xmas time =0) Everything Chris does is from the goodness of his heart. He is always there to lend a helping hand and never expects anything in return.

His Love. It's unconditional - period!

His sense of humor. Man is he funny! Chris can make me laugh so hard I start to cry!

Most importantly, Chris is a great Father. Our family is definitely nontraditional.
Emma, our beautiful daughter together is simply put - the apple of his eye. He plays games with her, reads with her, swims with her, helps her ride her bike, takes her to the park, sings with her, holds her when she's had a bad day or a nightmare. He lets her play the Hoedown, throw-down over and over and over again on his ipod and never complains! He tells her she's beautiful and smart everyday.
Austin and Lexi, our other beautiful children - mean the world to him. He never treats them any different because they are not his by birth. They are his because he loves them and they love him. I remember the first time they met each other. Chris and I had been dating for a while and we decided it was time to take that step. Lexi was almost 6 and Austin was 7 1/2. Everyone was really nervous - not knowing what to expect. The kids wondered if Chris was nice and Chris was worried they wouldn't like him. I remember we spent the day at the zoo - it was a great day, lots of fun! We were walking through the park, Austin and Lexi with me, Chris a little ahead of us - when all of the sudden Lexi let go of my hand and ran ahead toward Chris. She hesitated for a second - but then reached up and slid her hand into his - and that was that! My heart was melting when Chris turned to look over his shoulder at me - smiling.

Chris - thank you so much for sharing your life with me. The past 5 years have been wonderful - better than anything I could ever wish for. I can't wait to see what the next 5 bring!

I love you!

Happy Anniversary!
