Swimming Lessons - Day 3

Yesterday was day 3 in our 6 week adventure called Swim Otters. I really like Ms. Kathy - she is very good with the kids and it's amazing to watch her in the water - even when a kid is freaking out - like precious Emma. The first two days of lessons were great! Emma was excited and couldn't wait to get to the pool to see all the 'friends' who are also taking lessons - yesterday it all came to a screaming halt! Dad is taking her today - so we'll see how that goes =0) Iknow we have a long journey ahead of us - but in the end it will all be worth it!

Swimming Lessons

Today Emma had her first swimming lesson with the Swim Otters Swim School http://www.swimotters.com/. I must admit I was nervous this morning thinking about it. I first heard about this from my good friend Tami who heard about it from our good friend Shannon who heard about it from our doctor - Dr. Austin. We all did research and spoke to Ms. Kathy extensively - after all - Dr. Austin told Shannon that the class is excellent - but you basically sit on the side of the pool and watch them try to drown your child - hence my nervousness! But I had done all the research and knew this came highly recommended and has excellent results. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be - I didn't feel like they were trying to drown my child - Ms. Kathy put Emma to ease right away and gained her trust - she even got Em to put her face in the water!! She doesn't do that willingly - HA! I know it's just the first lesson - and I know they didn't get into the 'meat' of it all - and there are rough times ahead for Em - but I'm so proud of her for doing so well today! She is excited to go again tomorrow - extra bonus! YEAH EMMA!!

Is there a Doctor in the House??

I got this cute set of scrubs for Emma at my baby shower. One of Chris's best friends is a Doctor and his parents thought it would be cute to get us these. I had forgotten we had them and found them this past week when cleaning out her closet - she LOVES them! We spent an hour digging through her toys trying to find her Stethoscope - and once we found it she spent the whole weekend taking care of her sick babies...now we can't get her out of them - HA!

Fun in Space

Last week we decided to take advantage of the great weather and take Emma to her favorite place - the zoo. Unfortunately - so did everyone else in Denver - HA! Since we were already down there we decided to give the Natural History Museum a try...and it was a hit! Emma loved it! We started by watching 'The Zula Patrol' at the Planetarium - Em learned that we live on Earth and that there are lots of other planets out there that are all different. I have to admit - the show was pretty cool. She also got to pretend she was an astronaut - dressed up in a 'space suit' picking up moon rocks - she had a blast. I highly recommend taking a visit if you've never been. There is something there for everyone!
