I've Never Been So Scared In My Life

Last night Emma took a terrible tumble down the stairs. Chris and I were sitting on the couch and Emma had gone upstairs to pick out her pj's for the night. She started coming back down carrying her pj's over her shoulder and just as I started to tell her to not carry them that way she tripped and started rolling down the stairs. I started screaming her name and ran toward the stairs hoping to catch her - but by the time I got there she was hitting the hard wood floors. I scooped her up in my arms - in hind sight probably not the smartest thing to do since I had no idea if she was injured or not - and started looking at her. I checked her eyes, her arms, her legs, her neck - not a thing wrong - she was just more scared than anything else. I couldn't believe how fast it all happened, but that it also seemed like it happened in slow motion. We were so lucky that she wasn't seriously hurt - the way she rolled down those stairs she could've....
The important thing is that she is OKAY. I sat her down and told her that she is never to carry anything down the stairs and that she is always to use the hand rail. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep last night - I just kept watching her to make sure she was okay thru the night. This morning she sprung out of bed at the sound of Dora the Explorer - danced and sang along - then sat back down and said that she didn't think she should go to school today since she fell down the stairs yesterday - she said she should probably rest. HA! Now I know she is fine!
